Prince William and Kate Middleton appeared smitten with one another when they began dating in 2001. However, it appears the Duchess of Cambridge had a crush on her future husband years before they met.

When Kate was in high school, she reportedly had no interest in her male classmates but shared her feelings about Prince William.

In the book “William and Catherine,” Andrew Morton revealed Kate didn’t consider dating any of the boys at her high school. “Kate seemed aloof to the charms of her male fellow pupils,” the author wrote.

Kate’s former friend, Jessica Hay told the royal biographer, the Duchess of Cambridge didn’t think she was compatible with any of the young men. “We would sit around talking about all the boys at school we fancied but Catherine would always say: ‘I don’t like any of them. They’re all a bit rough,’” Hay revealed.

However, she did believe there was a guy she could get along with. “Then she would joke: ‘There’s no-one quite like Prince William.’”

Although Kate wasn’t interested in a relationship with her male classmates, she enjoyed playing silly games with the boys. “Our room faced out on to the boys’ boarding house,” Hay explained.

“We’d take turns to show our bare bums to the guys to see if they could guess who they belonged to. Catherine got kind of addicted to it.”

Even though the royal reportedly earned the nickname Kate “Middlebum,” she wasn’t a wild teenager. “She didn’t get involved in any drinking or smoking but was very sporty and family-minded,” Hay noted.

In 2001, Kate met Prince William while attending St. Andrews University. The two fell in love and married 10 years later. William and Kate are now parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
