Kate Middleton Makes Fashion Mistake? Duchess Wears $1,300 Gucci Blouse Backwards [PHOTOS]
Kate Middleton may have proven herself to be a style innovator when she wore a Gucci blouse backwards.
On Tuesday, Middleton paid a visit to the Henry Fawcett Children’s Centre to show her support for families in south London. For the royal engagement, the Duchess of Cambridge ditched her usual dresses and long coats for a stunning business-casual look.
Middleton donned a purple pussy-bow silk-crepe blouse from Gucci that retails for $1,300 and black pants from Jigsaw. She paired the ensemble with tonal pointed-toe pumps, a lilac Midi Mayfair bag from Aspinal of London and her Hope Egg earrings. This is the first time she has worn the earrings in public since March 2012.
While Prince William's wife looked gorgeous as usual in her ensemble, Middleton may have accidentally worn her Gucci top backwards. Based on the product description of the blouse on the retail website Net-a-Porter, the Gucci top "features fabric-covered buttons that run down the back."
The designer piece's description on Nordstrom's website also confirmed that there is a "row of dainty covered buttons inching down the back."
Photos from Duchess Kate's latest royal engagement, however, showed Middleton wearing the blouse with the button closures at the front instead of the back. Due to this, she also tied on the bow of the top the opposite way as it should not be on the same side as the buttons.
It is uncertain whether the royal mom of three made a relatable fashion mistake or intentionally wore the Gucci blouse this way. But regardless of whether or not it was a pleasant accident, Middleton still looked gorgeous in the ensemble.
Middleton seems to be a big fan of purple, which comes as no surprise as this color is typically associated with royalty. Back in January, she stunned in a purple Oscar de la Renta skirt suit when she visited the Royal Opera House.
Meanwhile, Kensington Palace also shared videos from Middleton's recent visit to Henry Fawcett Children’s Centre. One clip showed the duchess sitting on the floor and interacting with parents and their toddlers during a "Together Time" session offered by the local Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP) and Parent and Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) in south London.
Together Time sessions promote bonding between parents and their infants and provide time and space for moms and dads to just spend time with their children.
