Kate Middleton is busy. But she embraces her new role well and brings a fresh perspective as the Princess of Wales.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are settling into their new home, kids' new school and being in a brighter spotlight after taking on a higher role in the monarchy following Queen Elizabeth's death. Their children, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, just made their first day at the Lambrook School.

The outlet noted that it's a stressful time for the royal couple, especially for Middleton, who just took on the first Princess of Wales title after Prince William's mother, Princess Diana.

"She is a matriarch. Not in the sense of an older woman in a twin set and pearls, but she guides the family and advises [William] when he wants it," Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Prince William's former private secretary, told People.

King Charles bestowed the Prince and Princess of Wales titles to Prince William and Middleton after Queen Elizabeth passed away. He announced this in his inaugural address as the new British monarch.

"Today, I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life and duty," King Charles said. "With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the center ground where vital help can be given."

Middleton has been compared to her late mother-in-law and the latter's legacy.

The palace said that Middleton "appreciates the history associated with this role but will understandably want to look to the future as she creates her own path."

"She will do so with humility and by acknowledging the past but in her own way," Lowther-Pinkerton added.

Middleton is bucking some royal traditions like keeping Prince George at home rather than in boarding school. The second in line to the throne attends Lambrook, a 15-minute drive from their new family home, Adelaide Cottage.

Prince William and Middleton try to do the school drop-off and pickup most days. This isn't a new habit for the royal couple since they did it when Prince George attended classes at Thomas's Battersea in London.

In 2018, Middleton was photographed stuck in traffic on the way to her son's school to fetch him. The Duchess of Cambridge was at the wheel of her Range Rover and seemed unbothered by the traffic as she was seen smiling in one photo.
