The two women have reportedly put any feud they may have been having behind them, but that doesn’t mean the public doesn’t still take sides when it comes to deciding whether they like Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle more.

Following a recent post on the Instagram page Markle runs with her husband, Prince Harry, the Duchess was inundated with comments that suggested her followers actually had a preference for her sister-in-law, which suggests that Middleton might just be a little bit more popular with the people. The post, which explained why the account was no longer following anyone and was looking for who “inspired” their followers, was then flooded with many who stated Middleton and her husband, Prince William, in an attempt to get @sussexroyal to follow the other couple.

Since then, comments nominating the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have all been deleted from the post.

Still, the flooding of comments suggesting the other royal couple does seem to suggest that despite being married to Prince Harry for a year already and even welcoming her first child with him, Markle still has an uphill battle when it comes to being as well-liked as Middleton by the British people. While there are likely to be those who won’t ever accept her because of her American heritage, others could potentially be swayed if the Duchess seemed to conform to tradition—something she isn’t known for doing.

In fact, Markle has come under criticism over the months because she tends to do things her own way and appears to eschew royal traditions and protocol. Not only did she opt out of doing a photocall at the hospital after her son’s birth, but she and Prince Harry also faced criticism for making Archie Harrison’s Christening a private affair.

Most recently, Markle has been criticized for her stint as a guest editor for the September issue of British Vogue, with critiques on everything from the issue’s cover to her not including her royal relatives among some of the highlighted figures, to even potentially revealing that she knew she was having a boy months before giving birth.
