Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince George’s first international tour reportedly “spooked” Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, and made her reconsider their relationship.

Katie Nicholl claimed in her book, “Harry: Life, Loss, and Love,” that Bonas was “completely spooked” while watching the TV coverage of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official trip to New Zealand and Australia in 2014 with Prince George, who was only 8 months old at the time. She realized that it was a “wake-up call” for her that this was the kind of life she would have if she stays with Prince Harry.

“There was no way she wanted that sort of attention and she told Harry so,” Nicholl wrote.

Prince Harry was reportedly very in love with the “Tulip Fever” actress at the time and even tried to convince her that they could make it work. “Harry suffered a real blow when she said ‘I can’t do this.’ I think she really broke his heart,” the source added.

According to Nicholl, Prince Harry was left heartbroken twice because the women he dated and loved couldn’t bear to share the life he was born into. Prior to Bonas, the Duke of Sussex dated Chelsy Davy, his longest romance to date.

Prince Harry and Davy met in 2004 and had been dating on and off for years. In 2008, Davy and Kate Middleton stuck together when they met Queen Elizabeth II for the first time at Peter Phillip’s wedding.

The two were keen to make a good impression on Her Majesty. It was also the first time that they had been invited to join the royal family for an important social occasion.

After three years, it was Middleton’s turn to walk down the aisle and exchange “I do’s” with Prince William. Davy was present as Prince Harry’s plus one, but she realized one thing during the event -- the life of a royal bride was not for her.

Just like Bonas, Davy couldn’t live with the unwanted attention from the media. She realized that she couldn’t make the same sacrifices Middleton does for Prince William. After the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s royal wedding, Davy knew that she wouldn’t be able to go through with this.

In 2016, Davy shared her thoughts about dating a royal and described it as “crazy and scary and uncomfortable.” She admitted that it was really difficult for her because she wanted to be a normal kid and the unwanted attention from the press was “horrible.”
