Kate Middleton, Prince William Not ‘Forward-Thinking,’ ‘Cause-Oriented’ Like Meghan Markle, Prince Harry

Kate Middleton and Prince William were recently snubbed in Time magazine’s 25 Most Influential People on the Internet list. However, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were included.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were praised for their forward-thinking and cause-oriented approach to social media. The royal couple recently created their own Instagram account to update fans on their royal engagements, charities, and family life.

After the Sussex Royal account was created, Prince Harry and Markle gained millions of followers within a short period of time. More specifically, the account garnered 1 million followers within six hours.

At present, Sussex Royal already has 9 million followers, but the account is still 500,000 short of Prince William and Middleton’s social media account. But it is important to note that Kensington Royal has been on Instagram for years.

“The Sussexes forward-thinking, cause-oriented approach to social media fits neatly with other ways they are establishing their identity beyond the crown,” the publication noted.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Markle recently split from Prince William and Middleton’s charity. Last year, the royal couples’ joint forces in handling the Royal Foundation. But after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex created their own social media account, they also decided to focus on their own charities.

But a spokesperson for the palace said that the recent split happened in preparation of the royal siblings’ future role in the monarchy. It is possible that the royals’ alleged feud is not real.

“[This shift will] best complement the work and responsibilities of Their Royal Highnesses as they prepare for their future roles and to better align their charitable activity with their new households. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are incredibly proud of what they have achieved together through the Royal Foundation… They are especially proud to have established a charity that has had, and will continue to have, significant long-lasting impact, changing lives for the better,” the statement read.
