Kate Middleton, Prince William Plotting A ‘Distraction Trip’ Amid Pressure From Megxit

Kate Middleton and Prince William are reportedly plotting a distraction trip following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly planning a foreign trip amid the Megxit drama. Prince William and Middleton want to fly to Ireland for at least two days in March. There are no details about the couple’s trip yet.

According to Mirror, the Cambridges’ upcoming trip is the “perfect distraction” from the controversy involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry and Markle announced that they would be stepping back from their royal roles.

Queen Elizabeth II and Buckingham Palace already issued statements that they would be removed from all of their royal duties including their military appointments. They will also no longer be called HRH because they are not working members of the royal family anymore.

Prince William and Middleton are expected to face more pressure following Prince Harry and Markle’s departure. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that the spotlight has always been on the Cambridges and Prince Harry and Markle only captured the media’s attention because many thought that the would modernize the monarchy.

“Now after their bombshell announcement that they are stepping down as senior royals, the monarchy’s future lies in the hands of William and Kate and George and his siblings,” Fitzwilliams told Express.

“Of course the future of the monarchy always did depend on William and his offspring. However, with Andrew in disgrace and unlikely ever to carry out royal duties again, this means 230 patronages need new royal patrons.”

On Wednesday, Prince William and Middleton stepped out for the first time after the controversial Megxit. The royal couple visited Bradford for community projects. According to a body language expert, they were feeling the pressure and weight following Prince Harry and Markle’s exit.

“It’s unusual to see William and Kate with such rounded shoulders. It could be that they’re figuratively feeling the weight or pressure of the situation with Harry and Meghan, so it's weighing them down a bit,” expert Blanca Cobb explained to Cosmopolitan.
