Kate Middleton, Prince William Reportedly Rejected Prince Charles' Request For 70th Birthday
Kate Middleton and Prince William reportedly declined Prince Charles' birthday request.
Earlier this month, the Prince of Wales celebrated his 70th birthday. On that day, Clarence House released Prince Charles' official birthday photos. In the shot, the members of the Firm all looked pleased and were giggling.
According to Royally Obsessed, behind cameras, it wasn't all smiles after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge turned down Prince Charles' request for his birthday. The future king reportedly wanted a photo with his grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Unfortunately, Prince William and Middleton said "no" and insisted that everyone should be in the photo instead.
"We don’t know what’s happening in the palace, but I feel like behind the scenes things might not be going so well," royal expert Kaitlin Menz said (via Daily Star).
Lisa Ryan claimed she believes that Prince William and Middleton declined for "certain PR and ego reasons." But the experts believe that Prince Charles' sons should be in the photoshoot. "I think they should be there because it’s a family portrait and it’s his sons, so why wouldn’t they be there," Ryan continued.
Ryan also recognized the importance of Prince William and Middleton's presence. According to her, it helped that Prince William and Middleton were present to keep their children calm.
"Strictly practically speaking, they’re three toddlers or infants," Ryan said. "It’s much easier to have their parents there to keep them calm and wrangle them, as opposed to having one 70-year-old trying to hold three tiny children at once."
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were noticeably missing in the photos. This prompted some royal fans to believe that Prince Charles snubbed his own parents in the photoshoot. It remains unknown why the monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh were not included.
Prince Charles' relationship with Prince William and Middleton has always been intriguing especially when it comes to his grandchildren. According to Ashley Pearson, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall "have been less involved" when it comes to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis compared to Michael and Carole Middleton. Due to this, Prince Charles reportedly felt "unhappy." He felt that he was being "shut out."
