Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s behavior since announcing their plans to leave the royal family has reportedly left Kate Middleton and Prince William furious with the couple.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex surprised the royal family when they revealed they planned to step back from their royal duties in 2020.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams claimed Kate and William would not be happy about the way the couple has treated Queen Elizabeth. He claimed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have felt a “severe blow to the monarchy” since the Sussexes exit.

“The fact that the Sussexes behaved as they did was a severe blow to the monarchy. William and Kate, together with George and his siblings, are the future of the monarchy,” Fitzwilliams explained.

“They will not have appreciated the way the Sussexes have so flagrantly disrespected the Queen and shown such open disregard for the institution,” he added.

Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan released an update on their official website that appeared to shade Queen Elizabeth over unfair treatment by explaining the removal of their trademarking requests for “Royal Sussex” and “Royal.”

“While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place,” the statement read.

It was agreed that The Duke and Duchess will no longer be able to formally carry out ‘official duties’ for The Queen or represent The Commonwealth, but they will, however, be allowed to maintain their patronages (including those that are classified as ‘royal’ patronages).

“While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘Royal’ overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘Royal’ in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020,” the statement read.
