Kate Middleton Rejected Prince William's Kiss By Pulling Away For This Reason

Kate Middleton reportedly rejected Prince William's advances during their first meeting.

Katie Nicholl claimed in her book, "The Making Of A Royal Romance," that the Duke of Cambridge tried to kiss Middleton after the 2002 Don't Walk charity fashion show as he was fascinated with the brunette beauty on the catwalk. Following the show, Prince William told a friend, "Wow, Kate's hot!"

After the event, Prince William reportedly attempted to kiss Middleton when they were left alone. However, she rejected the royal's advances because Prince William had reportedly been "cold" towards her without their other friends' presence.

"William leaned in to kiss her. It was Kate who pulled away, momentarily stunned that he had been so cold in a room full of strangers," Nicholl wrote (via Express).

At that time, Middleton was reportedly dating Rupert Finch, a fourth-year student, but "William didn't seem to care." Prince Harry's brother was smitten with Middleton, who later became his girlfriend.

"It was clear to us that William was smitten with Kate, he actually told her she was a knockout that night, which caused her to blush," a friend of the couple revealed. "She played it very cool and at one point when William seemed to lean in to kiss her, she pulled away. She didn’t want to give off the wrong impression or make it too easy for Will."

In Amazon Prime's documentary "William & Kate: The Journey," Ashley Pearson also covered the incident. According to her, Middleton is "dull," but she knew well how to catch Prince William's attention.

"She walked out in basically a bra and knickers and not much else," Pearson said. "She looked beautiful – young and fresh and natural. She really got William’s attention."

"For all that has been said about Kate’s somewhat dull maybe, somewhat pedestrian personality, the girl knows how to get attention when she wants it," she added. "And she did a really good job that day of getting the attention of probably the one man whose attention she really wanted."

There were also rumors that Middleton kept a photo of Prince William in her wall. However, the royal mom of three denied it.

"He wishes," Middleton joked when asked about it. "I had the Levi guy on my wall, not a picture of William."
