Prince George is learning a relatable skill as he starts at a new school this month.

During Kate Middleton and Prince William's visit to Wales Tuesday, the new Princess of Wales, 40, revealed that she has been teaching their eldest son, 9-year-old Prince George, to tie his own necktie for his new school uniform, Hello! magazine reported.

Middleton made the revelation while speaking to a group of school children who were wearing smart uniforms.

"Do you tie your own tie?" the princess asked one boy after noticing that he was wearing a tie.

Middleton was impressed when the child confirmed that he did.

"Well done you. I've been teaching George because he has got to wear a tie now for school, so I'm having to teach him how to do it," she told him. "But well done, you've done a good job with your tie. Nice to meet you."

Prince George, his 7-year-old sister Princess Charlotte and 4-year-old brother Prince Louis began attending a new school, Lambrook, at the start of September after their family moved to their home Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate last month.

According to Middleton, the children have "settled in nicely" and met new friends in school but are still adjusting to the new environment, according to Hello!

Prince George and Princess Charlotte have joined Year 5 and Year 3, respectively, while Prince Louis now attends the reception class in the pre-prep.

Prince George wore Lambrook's boys' summer uniform of a checked button-down and shorts for a preview day with his parents and siblings on Sept. 7, but he must wear a tie with the regular daywear uniform when the weather gets colder.

Princess Charlotte's uniform includes a button-down belted navy green gingham dress with a pair of navy blue ankle socks.

Prince Louis' uniform is similar to his brother's, but he is exempt from adding a necktie until he begins Year 3.

Lambrook is a prestigious and private school in Berkshire that is open to children between the ages of 3 and 13.

Prince George's tuition fees are the highest among the siblings, according to Hello! Years 5 to 8 are around £6,999 ($7,768) per term, which means Prince William and Middleton will need to pay £20,997 ($23,305) per year for his education.

Prince Louis' school fees total £13,167 ($14,612) across all three terms, with each term costing £4,389 ($4,888). Princess Charlotte's education, meanwhile, will cost £19,344 ($21,466) per year.
