Kate Middleton Shares Never-Before-Seen Baby Photo To Promote Early Years Development Project

Kate Middleton has given royal fans a glimpse into her childhood as she promotes her new campaign on early childhood development.

On Saturday, the Princess of Wales shared a never-before-seen photo of herself on social media.

In the snap, baby Kate can be seen smiling as she touched her father Michael's face. Michael also appeared to have a huge grin on his face while holding his daughter in his arms.

According to Middleton, her mom, Carole Middleton, captured the moment.

"'Faces are a baby's best toy,'" Middleton wrote in the caption. "On Tuesday we launched #ShapingUs to raise awareness of the vital role our early years play in shaping the rest of our lives."

"This weekend, we'd love for you all to spend time with your friends, families, colleagues and communities talking about your early childhoods and how they've shaped your lives," the Princess of Wales added.

Middleton encouraged her followers to join her in sharing photos of themselves before their 5th birthday "to help with those conversations and to share some smiles and memories too."

A number of royal fans heeded her request and shared their own baby pictures.

"Rupert the Bear rules! I reckon this is Bournemouth Pier c1973 with my wonderful mum Jane and little brother Jonnie," Simon Vigar, a royal correspondent for 5 News, tweeted alongside his throwback photo.

"My wonderful parents gave me the confidence, through love, praise, attention and encouragement to live my best life," another Twitter user wrote alongside his own childhood picture.

"Here is a very blurry photo of me together with my twin brother. Seeing this again has for the first time made me realize we were similar when young, but are completely different now as adults," a third person added.

This week, the Princess of Wales' Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood launched its Shaping Us campaign, which intends to increase public awareness of the significance of a child's first five years of life.

Middleton gave a speech on early childhood development at a special reception at the BAFTA headquarters in London Monday.

"The campaign is fundamentally about shining a spotlight on the critical importance of early childhood and how it shapes the adults we become," the royal said alongside a 90-second claymation film depicting how a child is shaped by interactions and their environment, the Independent reported.

She continued, "During this time, we lay the foundations and building blocks for life. And it is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and understand the world in which we live. This is why it is essential to not only understand the unique importance of our earliest years, but to know what we can all do to help raise future generations of happy, healthy adults."
