Kate Middleton shockingly ditched her engagement ring during a hospital visit.

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out on Tuesday to join a creative workshop run by the National Portrait Gallery’s Hospital Programme at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Middleton was there to witness how art supports kids’ health, well-being and happiness.

However, many noticed that Prince William’s wife was not wearing her blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring. Her diamond eternity band was also missing.

According to People, there is a reason why Middleton opted to not wear her bands. The hospital reportedly has a policy on minimal jewelry. Also, the duchess has to clean her hands thoroughly before touring the wards and treatment areas. It is also recommended that the jewelry be removed before entering. This is probably the reason Middleton’s engagement ring and eternity band were missing.

Spotting Middleton sans her engagement ring during hospital visits is not new at all. This wasn’t the first time she didn’t wear her engagement ring when she visited a medical facility. For instance, Middleton also opted to leave the same accessory behind when she visited the Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Mittal Children’s Medical Centre in January 2018.

Meanwhile, royal correspondent Daniela Elser believed that Middleton is the biggest loser following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure. According to her, she will always be pitted against her sister-in-law. Also, with Markle no longer under the royal family’s control, the former “Suits” star will likely eclipse the future queen’s popularity.

“Unfortunately for Kate, she faces having to bear the brunt of this royal world order. There is no getting away from the uncomfortable fact that no matter how unfair (or un-feminist) it is for Kate to be constantly pitched against Meghan, this situation is only going to be thrown into overdrive in the coming months and years,” Elser wrote.

Middleton also faced a lot of criticisms from Markle’s fans. The Duchess of Sussex’s supporters called Middleton’s projects useless. Another called Prince William’s wife “overdressed, overrated wind-up doll.”
