Kate Middleton Slammed For This ‘Mistake’ During Outing With Prince William

She’s often held in high regard, but some are criticizing Kate Middleton for something she wore during a recent visit to a home in Blackpool with Prince William.

During the recent outing, the Duchess of Cambridge wore an expensive outfit, which talkRADIO hosts Emily Andrews and Mike Graham criticized as “not brilliant optics.”

“Not a great idea to wear a coat that’s worth £1000 from SportsMax, maybe she could have worn something a little cheaper,” Graham said.

“Yes I think that is probably a good point because the optics are not brilliant are they, if she is wearing an outfit that costs £2000 when you are visiting places like this,” Andrews added.

The Duke and Duchess were visiting homes in one of the more deprived areas of the city that had seen families living in squalid conditions due to landlords who did not take care of the properties, according to Express UK.

The criticism of Middleton’s coat comes not long after her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, came under attack for her lavish baby shower in New York. While she was critiqued, however, Prince William and Kate’s own expenses were called out in defense of the Duchess of Sussex.

“What’s the difference between that and then the world’s press descending on the hospital after the baby is born to take glamorous photos of the made-up new mum with her baby? How much taxpayers money goes into funding security for something like that?” royal correspondent Omid Scobie said at the time.

However, Middleton, as well as other members of the royal family, are also known for not usually being overly lavish when it comes to their spending habits. While Queen Elizabeth is known for taking public transportation (she takes the train when she visits her Sandringham Estate) and recycling outfits, Kate and William have previously shared that they have saved money on unnecessary expenses for their children by recycling some of Prince William’s own clothing from when he was a child and giving it to Prince George, and also by purchasing furniture for their children's rooms at IKEA.
