Kate Middleton Visits Royal Opera House’s Costume Department; Surprising Family Connection Revealed
Kate Middleton recently paid a visit to the Royal Opera House’s costume department.
According to The Sun, the Duchess of Cambridge was all smiles during her tour. She also seemed extremely interested to learn about textiles since her great-great-grandfather, Francis Martineau Lupton, was a successful textile manufacturer during his time. He also ran the William Lupton & Company with his three brothers.
Middleton was photographed in her purple Oscar de la Renta peplum style dress. She was also seen wearing a new pair of black patent heels with a gold buckle detail as she was being whisked through the Hamlyn Hall at the Royal Opera House.
During her tour, the mom of three seemed fascinated with how costumes are dyed, hand-painted, and stained. According to Kensington Palace, Middleton’s tour was a way for the Duchess of Cambridge to explore her interest in the use and manufacture of textiles.
Middleton also had the chance to watch the rehearsal of Royal Ballet Principal Dancers Lauren Cuthbertson, Laura Morera, and Vadim Muntagirov. The trio performed “Two Pigeons” in front of the future Queen.
One day before her trip to the Royal Opera House, Middleton visited the Islington Community Garden, which served as her first solo royal engagement for the year. While there, Prince William’s wife had the chance to talk and bond with a handful of kids.
An 8-year-old asked Middleton if Queen Elizabeth II eats pizza while they were making the treat themselves. Prince George’s mom admitted that she had no idea if Her Majesty has ever eaten the food and joked that she will ask her the next time they meet.
She also said that her children will get jealous when they find out that their mom made pizza without them.
Following her royal engagement, Middleton received a handful of gifts from royal fans, which include honey, pictures, bird feeders, and more. She told one of the children that she will put the bird feeders in the garden in the hopes that the birds will come.
