Kate Middleton Was Reportedly Dating Another Man When She Met Prince William

Kate Middleton had a boyfriend when she met Prince William in a university they both attended.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s had been friends before their relationship turned romantic. According to one biographer, it was Prince William who did the chasing at first because 19-year-old Middleton was not available.

“Kate actually had another boyfriend when she first got to St Andrews, Rupert Finch, who by all accounts was a nice man,” Victoria Arbiter said in the latest episode of 9Honey’s “The Windsors” podcast.

Finch was ahead of Middleton in terms of school because he left the university in 2002. According to Express, he was already in his final year studying law at St. Andrews when he met Middleton and they only dated for less than a year.

“Prince William, he kind of expressed a bit of interest but I think Kate was still playing hard to get. She wasn’t terribly sure if she was interested,” Arbiter added.

Middleton and Prince William started dating in 2003. According to reports, it was during a charity fashion event when Middleton wore a sheer dress that Prince William realized his friend was hot. The Duke of Cambridge couldn’t help but praised Middleton when he saw her down the catwalk.

Prince William’s brother reportedly whispered to a friend that Middleton was “hot.” After the event, they were left alone and Prince William attempted to kiss Middleton, but she rejected his advanced because the royal was cold towards her without their friends’ presence.

At the time, Middleton and Finch were still together but according to Katie Nicholl in her book “The Making Of A Royal Romance,” Prince William didn’t seem to care because he was smitten with Middleton.

Things changed when they were officially dating. In 2003, Prince William and Middleton attended each other’s birthday bash. However, when Middleton went to the future king’s party, she barely registered to him because his eyes were glued to pretty woman Jecca Craig.

It was Craig who had the honor and pride to be seated next to Prince William at the head table. Prince William reportedly had a crush on Jecca since their first encounter.

Prince William and Middleton had a trial separation, but they decided to give their romance another try and eventually married. The couple is parents to three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
