Kate Middleton wore a tiara in Pakistan, but it wasn’t one she borrowed from the Queen’s collection. Instead, it was a little more affordable.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a plastic tiara to a tea party. She and Prince William visited Lahore's Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, a place Princess Diana visited more than once to comfort children and help fundraise. They met several of the patients there, including one who gave Kate a tiara.

The Duke and Duchess drank pretend tea with 7-year-old cancer patient Wafia Rehmani from Afghanistan, according to the Telegraph. Wafia offered the Duchess the plastic crown, and the mother of three happily put it on.

“Her father calls her princess and she likes to wear a crown. Now she is looking forward to meeting a real princess,” Wafia’s brother, Hedyatullah Rehmani, told the press.

Kate shares the late Princess Diana’s taste in tiaras. When she does take out the fancy headpieces, she usually goes for the Lover’s Knot tiara, a favorite of William’s mother.

Like Kate, Princess Diana also played with children while visiting the state-of-the-art cancer treatment center in Pakistan. Diana was once pictured cuddling with a young blind girl at the facility, Hello reports.
