Kate Middleton Will Have A 'Lower Key' 40th Birthday Celebration Compared To Meghan Markle
KEY POINTS
- Kate Middleton will likely celebrate her 40th birthday modestly to set a good example
- Middleton will not promote a new initiative on her special day, unlike Meghan Markle
- The Duchess of Cambridge's 40th birthday will be low key, and she will likely spend it with her family
Kate Middleton will be celebrating her 40th birthday differently compared to her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.
The Duchess of Cambridge is turning 40 on Sunday. However, she will likely have a modest celebration due to the surge in cases of COVID-19 in the U.K. Also, Middleton always wanted to set an example for the public.
"So even for a big, important birthday, like her 40th, and even being who she is, she’s choosing perhaps to do something lower key," British journalist Jonathan Sacerdoti told Us Weekly Tuesday. "So [as] to set a good example."
The royal commentator knew that Middleton's birthday celebration might be compared to Markle's. He believed that the Duchess of Cambridge would mark her special day differently. Markle promoted a new initiative, 40x40, on her special day. The Duchess of Sussex asked her close pals to pledge 40 minutes of mentorship or service to support women re-entering the workforce.
"We saw how Meghan conducted herself for her 40th," the broadcaster continued. "Meghan, of course, did that video where she had her new, let’s say initiative, announced where she was trying to help people to get back into work after many people had lost their jobs with COVID through mentoring."
He continued, "I don’t think we’ll be seeing anything similar from Princess Catherine. I think that we’ll be seeing something a lot lower key is what we’ve been told."
The outlet noted that Middleton's celebration might be similar to how she marked the milestone last year. On her 39th birthday, the future queen consort spent the day with her husband, Prince William, and their three children — Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3.
The family celebrated the occasion at their Anmer Hall estate. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children made Middleton "the cutest birthday cards using paint, glitter and sparkles" and "gave her handmade birthday gifts and flowers, which they picked from the garden," an anonymous source told Us Weekly at the time.
Meanwhile, another source told People that the Duchess of Cambridge was "flourishing" ahead of her birthday. The tipster said Prince William's wife "has really come into her own."
The insider praised Middleton for being "focused" and "professional." She has become "more and more impressive as time goes on," the source added.
