  • Kate Middleton's dad didn't think it was possible for her and Prince William to date

Kate Middleton’s dad, Michael Middleton, didn’t think that there was any hope for his daughter and Prince William to end up together.

Years ago, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge crossed paths while they were studying at the University of St. Andrews. After a few months of getting to know each other, the royal couple decided to live in the same apartment with two of their friends.

Before Prince William and Middleton’s relationship was confirmed, their photos were already making headlines because they were always together. The Statesman reporter Louisa Pearson had the opportunity to ask Michael what he thought about his daughter and Prince William’s relationship, and he said that it’s impossible for them to date.

“People do not seem to realize that there are two girls and two boys sharing a flat at university. They are together all the time because they’re the best of pals – and yes, cameramen are going to get photos of them together. But there is nothing more to it than that,” he said.

Michael also said that he and his wife are amused at the thought of being in-laws with Prince William but they don’t think that it’s possible. But Pearson was convinced that something more serious was going on between the two royals.

She said that Prince William and Middleton’s body language was very revealing, and they looked very close at the rugby tournament that they attended. They also have much in common including their love for sports, their age, and their course.

However, the one thing that stopped the speculations regarding Prince William and Middleton’s relationship was the latter’s family’s business.

“But the Middleton family business, running a mail-order children’s party toys company, leaves them somewhat removed from the House of Windsor,” Pearson said.

In the end, Prince William didn’t seem to have an issue with Middleton’s family business. In fact, the Duke of Cambridge also forged a close relationship with his parents-in-law, who he saw as a good role model.

As for Middleton, she didn't just choose to study at the University of St. Andrews because of its reputation but because she wanted to meet Prince William.
