Kate Middleton’s ‘Handshake’ Makes Her More Special Than Meghan For This Reason
Kate Middleton’s handshake makes her more special than Meghan Markle, according to a body language expert.
Judi James talked about the Duchesses handshakes and told Express that both Middleton and Markle project warmth and charisma. However, the Duchess of Cambridge’s handshake adopts a slightly more distant approach of a woman that will one day become queen. On the other hand, Markle’s handshake suggests that her goal is to create genuine moments of friendship with the people she meets.
“This is a very personal handshake, using proximity, undivided attention signals, and active listening traits to ensure the ‘moment’ is made very special. Meghan holds the hand clasp quite high here, with her elbow bent at under a 90-degree angle while she self-diminishes very slightly to suggest subtle humility. Her eye contact and angled head tilt are ‘enquiring’ signals, showing a desire to listen as well as to talk,” James explained.
The body language expert added that Markle oftentimes uses her body language to create an connection with the public. Prince Harry’s wife’s head is usually titled and bent down when she’s shaking the hands of people during her engagements. Middleton, on the other hand, always has an upright posture.
“Her perfect smile are what pick her out as special in a rather more formal way. They suggest high status but she combines this with some very warm signals towards her audience. She faces forward while conversing with the crowd to her side from a distance but her low wave, with the handheld just below shoulder level, makes her much more accessible. Unlike Meghan, she carries her bag in one hand rather than getting stuck in ‘hands-free,’” she said.
James’ comparison of Middleton and Markle’s handshakes came on the heels of reports that the two female royals are feuding with each other. In recent weeks, it has been claimed that Markle made Middleton cry. The mom of three also allegedly reprimanded Markle after the latter spoke to the royal staff in a demanding manner.
However, Kensington Palace released a statement last week saying that there is no truth to all of the feud reports.
