Kate Middleton’s Marriage Gone A Long Way After Being Placed On ‘Awkward Spot’
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s marriage has gone a long way.
After tying the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, the couple welcomed their first child, Prince George, in 2013. Two years later, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed Princess Charlotte. And their third child, Prince Louis, was born last year.
Throughout the past couple of years, the royal couple has also gone on several royal tours and engagements. And they will soon be embarking on another tour in Asia this autumn. Details about the upcoming engagement have not yet been finalized.
Meanwhile, prior to tying the knot, Prince William and Middleton were in a long-term relationship that was filled with happiness and wonderful moments. But this is not to say that their relationship is perfect.
In fact, before Prince William proposed to his wife, the future King reportedly placed Middleton in a very awkward spot. Author and broadcaster Vicky Ward wrote for Vanity Fair in 2008 that Middleton was in limbo before her engagement.
“All the royal press – and former courtiers I spoke to – agreed that until Prince William formalizes their relationship Middleton is in an awkward spot. She is not officially entitled to any royal benefits paid for by the taxpayers, such as security; she has no spokesperson and is not receiving any official guidance on what to wear or how to conduct herself in royal circles,” Ward said.
While Prince William and Middleton were still dating, the mom of three made it a point to endear herself to the members of the royal family. The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly had dinner with Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker Bowles a number of times.
However, it was Prince Harry that took quite some time to warm up to his sister-in-law. But after Prince William and Middleton tied the knot, it became evident how close the Duke of Sussex and Middleton have become.
