Kate Middleton’s Public Scrutiny ‘Nothing Like’ Meghan Markle’s, Expert Says
Kate Middleton may have faced public scrutiny in the past, but it was nothing like what Meghan Markle is enduring at the moment.
Royal expert Melanie Bromley told E! News that the Duchess of Sussex has been subjected to terrible problems throughout her new role. Middleton faced a similar thing when she joined the royal family in 2011, but it wasn’t exactly the same with what Markle is facing at the moment.
“Kate didn’t have this. Even Kate who, she had longer to prepare, any negative press she got was like, oh her mother worked for an airline, whatever it was, or Kate’s uncle was a bit controversial with his ‘Maison de Bang Bang in Ibiza,’” she said.
But Bromley said that Markle had to deal with more things, including her feud with her dad, Thomas Markle Sr., and half-siblings Thomas Markle Jr. and Samantha Markle.
Guest Erin Lim seconded Bromley’s thoughts and said the everything has been stacked up against her.
Meanwhile, Bromley also compared the treatment that Markle has been receiving in the royal family with that of Princess Diana. She said that Prince Harry’s wife is slowly becoming like the Princess of Wales.
“While it was great at first – it looks great on the outside, becoming a Duchess, becoming a Princess – but it’s horrific… This is what Diana went through,” she said.
The expert said that living with the royal family is like being in a gilded cage, which is something that Princess Diana also experienced. The mom of two went through some hardships with the press before they looked at her like a saint.
In related news, Markle also made headlines this week after it was reported that Prince Harry feels responsible for his wife feeling miserable during her pregnancy. A source told US Weekly that Prince Harry takes all of the attacks on Markle personally. He has also wanted to make a public statement to defend his wife, but he was advised not to.
Markle reportedly finds the public backlash and her pregnancy incredibly stressful.
