Kate, Pippa Middleton Top List of 20 Beauty Icons of 2011 [PHOTOS]

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has been voted the top beauty icon of 2011, with her sister Pippa Middleton coming in at a close second in a new poll from Superdrug, which asked 3,000 UK women to name the most beautiful and fashionable celebrities of the year.

Kate Middleton, 29, has become recognized as an icon of chic, polished fashion ever since her marriage to Prince William in April, while her sister Pippa was better known this year for her fresh-faced look and her much-hailed derriere in her Sarah Burton-designed maid of honor dress.

But both sisters stand out in their adherence to their signature looks, whether it be Kate's glossy brunette waves and perfect accessories or Pippa Middleton's sun-kissed complexion and glossy lip. Third place went to last year's winner, singer Cheryl Cole, while fourth and fifth place went to Rihanna and model and television presenter Holly Willoughby.

Sarah Wolverson, Superdrug's director of beauty and the woman who commissions the poll, noted that four of the top five celebrity women who appear of the list of top beauty icons are brunettes, and that dark-haired women make up the majority of the 2011 list in general.

While blondes may have more fun, brunettes are seen to be more beautiful, Wolverson told The Daily Mail. Whether the fashion icon depends on beauty or personal style is a matter of debate, but all the women in the 2011 list undoubtedly have their own signature styles, from singers like Adele and Lady Gaga to actresses like Emma Watson and celebrity wives like Victoria Beckham.

While entries like singer Katherin Jenkins and pop sensation Lady Gaga are new to the list, former fashion icons like Michelle Obama, Leona Lewis and Kylie Minogue failed to make the top 20 in 2011.

As always, Wolverson said, out Beauty Icons survey gives a snapshot of the changing face of British beauty.
