Fans haven’t seen the last of Dr. Addison Montgomery on “Grey’s Anatomy” as actress Kate Walsh teased that she’s reprising the fan-favorite character once again.
The 54-year-old actress took to Instagram Wednesday to share a quirky video teasing her return to the long-running medical drama.
At the start of the clip, Walsh enters a hallway in casual clothing. After hearing a voiceover of cartoon character Squidward asking why she wasn’t in a uniform, she retraces her steps and exits the frame for a split second, only to come back in Dr. Montgomery’s signature dress and white coat combo.
The video ends with Walsh posing in the middle of the hallway as the title of the show pops up above her head. Squidward then says, “It’s about time you got here.” In response, Spongebob is heard uttering, “Here you go, your majesty!”
Walsh also reiterated her return to the show in the caption that read, “I’m back in uniform and that can only mean one thing… #GreysAnatomy. Thursday, May 5th!”
Fans immediately expressed their excitement for her upcoming guest appearance in the series. Some of them even said that they didn’t see this one coming.
“Kate, I just fell out of my chair at work,” one wrote.
“The way I ran to my phone when I saw the notification on my watch… I’m not even lying… I fell to the ground, but it was worth it,” another commented.
“Oh boy! This is the news I have been waiting for! I’m screaming with joy,” a third user added.
“Oh my god, Addie is coming back. Sooo excited!” a different fan exclaimed.
Details about her character’s return to the hit medical series remain under wraps, with ABC not spoiling what could drive Dr. Montgomery back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital this season. However, the network did confirm that Walsh will appear in multiple episodes, according to Deadline.
Addison played an important role in the earlier seasons of the series. Aside from being the hospital’s top gynecological and neonatal surgeon, she was also the wife of Patrick Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd before the latter met Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey.
Even though Walsh left “Grey’s Anatomy” in Season 3 for her character’s own spinoff series, “Private Practice,” she was still able to come back through guest appearances. She last appeared on the ABC drama, which is already on its 18th season, in October 2021.
