Kate Winslet on Leonardo DiCaprio: ‘He’s Fatter Now’; Is She Right? [PHOTOS]
Kate Winslet recently took a friendly stab at her Titanic co-star and pal Leonardo DiCaprio, claiming that, He's fatter now -- I'm thinner. It's true though!
The comments were made during an interview with UK talk show Daybreak, where the actress was on hand to promote the re-release of the blockbuster in 3D, which opened in theaters this week.
We do look very different, we're older she said on the show.
And she might have a point there. Since all the Titanic fanfare wrapped some 15 years ago (DiCaprio and Winslet were 22 and 21, respectively, at the time), both actors have taken on a wide spread of film roles.
Winslet abandoned Rose DeWitt Bukater's voluptuous frame for roles in Iris, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Little Children and The Reader, among others. Meanwhile, DiCaprio's scrawny Jack Dawson has been replaced over the years by biopic after biopic, playing everyone from Frank Abagnale Jr. (Catch Me If You Can) to J. Edgar Hoover (J. Edgar).
While it's safe to say that DiCaprio, now 37, is not overweight (even by Hollywood standards), Winslet, 36, is right in her comparison. And she has another famous DiCaprio co-star to back her up: Claire Danes, who starred opposite DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet in 1996.
I saw Leo the other day and in some ways, our dynamic is absolutely the same, but then it's like, 'Oh, but wait, we're big fat grown-ups!' Danes, 32, told UK magazine ASOS.
