Kathy Griffin Asks Fans To Help Decipher Cancer Scan; Says Doctor 'Ghosted' Her
Kathy Griffin updated her fans on her recent cancer scan, asking social media users for help after the doctor "ghosted" her.
The 61-year-old comedian shared her latest cancer report Monday on Instagram and acknowledged how the post felt "crazy." She further revealed that she is not able to get on a call with an oncologist and that the surgeon who did her lung removal operation "ghosted" her, PageSix reported.
"This is what it's come to people!" she captioned. "I'm putting my scan results on Instagram in hopes that somebody will put it under an oncologist's nose and send me some sort of interpretation in English of what's going on with my post operation situation!"
Griffin added, "Social media can be used for good, dammit!"
Following Griffin's request, online users took a look at the reports and shared their opinions.
One of the users pointed out that as a cancer survivor and they have been reading hundreds of scan results. "It appears there is no evidence of disease at this time," the user wrote, with clapping emojis.
Another user wrote, "That's a pretty good looking report Kathy (as someone who worked in imaging). Sorry you're going through this and sending you love, one Chicago girl to another."
Many Instagram users also affirmed that the reports look good, while others blamed the medical system for Griffin's unprecedented experience.
Besides Instagram, the comedian also shared the same reports on Twitter with additional details about the surgeon who did not respond to her.
"He ruined my vocal chords & my arytenoids permanently! My voice is my living," she tweeted. "It's discouraging 2 me that people are sticking up 4 a surgeon who has caused me so many difficulties. I had stage 1. I sure wish I had gotten chemo/radiation instead of surgery with this hack Dr."
This is not the first time the comedian has shared a health update on social media. Previously, Griffin revealed that she had cancer and will be undergoing surgery to remove half of her left lung.
At that time, she had expressed hope that this might be her last "chemo or radiation," with the desire to normally function with her breathing after the session.
On the work front, Griffin was last seen in the TV series, "Unconventional," which was released on July 21. She also appeared in another TV series, "Search Party," where she played Liquorice's character.
The comedian has been regularly lending her voice to "Crank Yankers" since 2003.
