People.com is reporting that Katie Couric, who recently stepped down from hosting the CBS news, is close to signing a $20-million deal with ABC.

This would give her a daytime talk show as well as a significant role at ABC News.

TMZ was the first to report the news.

According to the report, Couric would be getting a one-hour long, five-days-a-week syndicated talk show beginning in September 2012. It would take the afternoon time-slot that is currently occupied by General Hospital. TMZ is also reporting that Matt Lauer, who is also leaving his show, will not be part of Couric's show.

The deal would also allow Couric to host specials for 20/20 and ABC News and also fill in as a news anchor.

Couric's reps would not confirm anything yet.

There is a lot of speculation and misinformation out there, her rep told People Magazine. But no deal has been reached with any party.
