When Katie Holmes’ latest fashion accessory turned out to be a diamond engagement ring, fans began to suspect the actress was engaged to Jamie Foxx. However, a rep for the “Dawson’s Creek” alum revealed the sparkler was not a sign that the 39-year-old and her boyfriend were planning a wedding.

Holmes was first romantically linked to Foxx a year after her 2012 divorce from Tom Cruise. While the couple has done their best to keep details about their relationship out of the press, it appears the actress’ upcoming film is to blame for the recent attention the romance has received.

After several pictures of Holmes with a diamond ring on her pinky finger surfaced online, a spokesperson for the star denied rumors she was getting married again to her 50-year-old boyfriend. “Katie’s not engaged to anyone besides her fictional movie fiancé, played by Jerry O’Connell,” the rep said in a statement to People.

Holmes is in New Orleans shooting scenes for the film, “The Secret,” which is an adaptation of a self-help book that explores the impact of positive thinking. After production wraps, Holmes is expected to have a busy year in 2019.

Aside from raising her daughter, Suri Cruise, she will also star in“The Boys 2,” the follow up to the 2016 movie, “The Boy.” Although Holmes will have her hands full, it doesn’t mean her relationship with Foxx will suffer.

Those close to the actress previously revealed she and the “Shazam” host have a unique relationship. “When Katie and Jamie are together, it works. It’s weird, but it’s what works for them,” a source told Us Weekly.

While Holmes is reportedly “smitten” with her beau, friends are worried the romance won’t end well due to Foxx’s friendly behavior with other women. “No one understands why Katie loves a man who can’t seem to commit or why he’s publicly humiliating her like this.”

“Everyone just wants her to take care of herself and to be happy. But she won’t let go of Jamie,” the source shared.

Although Foxx and Holmes are not engaged, the two are still together and continue to carry on a quiet romance.
