Katie Holmes Gets Candid On Raising Daughter With Tom Cruise: ‘That Time Was Intense’

Katie Holmes admitted that raising her daughter with Tom Cruise as a solo parent was intense.

In an interview with InStyle for its April 2020 cover, the “Brahms: The Boy II” star revealed that she didn’t have it easy raising her 13-year-old daughter on her own following her split from the “Top Gun” actor. Holmes even said, “That time was intense.”

The celebrity mom also shared an incident when she cried after picking up her daughter from a friend’s home. According to Holmes, she was touched when a “kind” cab driver helped her carry sleeping Suri to their building.

“Suri was 6 or 7, and she was spending the night at a friend’s house while I was seeing the ballet at Lincoln Center,” Holmes said.

“At 10, I got a call: ‘Mommy, can you come get me?’ I got a cab and went down to Battery Park to pick her up. She was exhausted. She fell asleep on the way home, and when we pulled up to our building, the cab driver opened the door and helped me not wake her. He helped carry her to the building. He was so kind.”

Holmes and Suri are very close and the “Dawson’s Creek” alum has nothing but praises for her daughter. According to Holmes, she loves Suri so much and her biggest goal has always been to “nurture her into individuality.” She wants to make sure that her child is 100 percent herself, strong, confident and able. When it comes to this matter, Holmes is very positive because she knows that Suri is “very strong.”

“She's always been a strong personality. She'll pick an activity and work her butt off until she's really good at it. Then she's like, ‘OK, I'm going to try the next thing.’ She's very focused and a hard worker,” Holmes added.

In related news, Holmes dated Jamie Foxx after her split from Cruise. There were rumors that they were engaged and getting married. They kept their romance out of the public for many years, but in May 2019, a source confirmed to People that they have already parted ways. In December 2019, Foxx was seen leaving his 52nd birthday party with a young woman.
