Katy Perry Divorce Style: Blue Hair, Cleavage and Attitude for the Single Songstress [PHOTOS]
Katy Perry has not let divorce get her down. In fact, the songstress has clearly used the personal turmoil to unveil an edgier and more risqué side.
Katy Perry has been frolicking around at all of the hottest events - like Paris Fashion Week and The Grammy Awards - sporting a new decidedly racier style. Of course the singer has always been known for her ample curves and her mini-skirts, but there was always a kitschy cuteness to it. Nowadays, it seems as if Perry is a bit more jaded. Not everything is cotton candy and whipped cream anymore.
The 27-year-old singer divorced husband Russell Brand in December, after having married in India in October 2010. Though the couple did not reveal any particulars behind the split, Perry did reveal that her latest song Part of Me is not about Brand.
The song includes lines like: You can keep the diamond ring/It don't mean nothing anyway and Cause you chewed me up and spit me out/Like I was poison in your mouth/You took my light, you drained me down. Fans speculated that the song is about Perry's ex, but the singer squashed the rumors.
I wrote it two years ago, which is funny because everybody is like 'God, it sounds so current,' Perry told MTV News.
Some people that I work with were like, 'You should just say you wrote it a couple of weeks ago,' she says. I'm like, 'I'm not a d---, I'm going to tell the truth.' I wrote it two years ago when I was writing and recording 'Teenage Dream,' [but] it didn't feel right on the record.
Perry did admit that the release of the song does coincide with her current emotional state.
Sometimes I'm like, 'Am I living in 'The Truman Show?'' ... What's going on?' she said. It just feels like sometimes I'm caught in this movie where my life is paralleling my music! It seems very serendipitous, but, as un-fun as it sounds, I prepare everything. I'm overly prepared and kind of a control freak in the best of ways.
