Katy Perry 'Dumped' By John Mayer [REPORT]

John Mayer reportedly "dumped" Katy Perry after mere weeks of dating before either of the superstars were able to fall in love with each other.

The "Your Body Is a Wonderland" singer has a reputation of being a ladies man, and if officially living up to that expectation. It has been rumored that he pleaded for Perry to trust him; that he'd changed his ways, but he ended things before they even became "official"-- now the pair of former lovers aren't even friends, reports say.

An insider explained to Radar Online that almost as soon as Perry gave in to Mayer's charms he became tired of the "Part of Me" pop princess.

"John did a real number on Katy. She held off from his advances for the longest time, but he laid on the charm thick and promised her he was a changed man. She eventually gave in, fell head over heels for him and then - yep - once he had made his conquest, he dumped her," the source told Radar Online.

Katy Perry and John Mayer attended the same party last Tuesday but entirely ignored each other, the website added.

"It was so weird! Katy stayed in one room the whole night and John stayed in the other and when they passed each other they both just kept their head's down. It was like they had this incredible animosity for each other and everyone else at the party could feel it," an onlooker said.

"You could cut the atmosphere with a knife. It was all incredibly high school!"

It was just about a week ago that news broke that Katy Perry and John Mayer were thought to be dating, they had been photographed at a friend's pool party in the Hollywood Hills with their arms around each other, Perez Hilton noted.

But it's not the only time he's let one of his lovers down, he offended Jessica Simpson when he said that her sex was like cocaine in a Rolling Stone magazine interview:

"That girl, for me, is a drug," he said, "And drugs aren't good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me... Sexually it was crazy. That's all I'll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm."
