Katy Perry And Riff Raff Repeat Britney And Justin's Denim Look At 2014 MTV VMAs

Katy Perry's jean ensemble had social media users abuzz Sunday night. Remember when Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wore matching denim outfits to the 2001 American Music Awards? It became known as one of the worst fashion choices, but during 2014 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night at The Forum in Inglewood, California, Katy Perry and Riff Raff seemingly recreated the awesomely bad look.

Twitter ignited after users saw the denim look and compared Perry and Riff Raff, whose real name is Horst Simco, to Spears and Timberlake. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton called it a “tacky denim dream,” but Perry fired back on the 140-character social media site and said, “it’s called fashun.”

Netizens on the mini-blog called it something else. While it wasn’t considered a “best moment” for Spears and Timberlake, users generally thought the former couple pulled it off better than Perry’s 2.0 version. Some of their thoughts and commentary has been posted below:
