Katy Perry Talks Taylor Swift Friendship After Falling-Out, Forgiving Each Other

Katy Perry opens up about her friendship with Taylor Swift.

Perry and Swift were very close. However, in 2014, the “ME!” singer said in an interview with Rolling Stone that a former close friend and popular artist “tried to sabotage an entire arena tour.” In 2019, the two performers ended their feud by giving each a other a hug while being dressed as a hamburger and carton of french fries for Swift’s star-studded “You Need To Calm Down” music video.

“You know … we’ve been on good terms for a while,” Perry said. “She sent me a really nice note and olive branch … like, an actual olive branch, to my tour, which started … the ‘Reputation’ stadium tour a while ago, and from that point on, we’ve been on good terms.”

According to Perry, they met each other at a party and walked up to each other and hugged it out. They also talked about things and then met each other again at another party. However, at present they haven’t reconnected since both are very busy, but they text a lot.

“Well, we don’t have a very close relationship because we are very busy, but we text a lot,” Perry told Australian magazine Stellar.

The “Roar” singer also expressed her admiration for Swift after watching her documentary “Miss Americana.” Perry appreciates how the “Look What You Made Me” songstress showed her vulnerable side while agreeing that it was okay to show the world that things aren’t perfect behind the camera.

“I was impressed by her documentary [‘Miss Americana’] because I saw some self-awareness starting to happen and I saw a lot of vulnerability. I was really excited for her to be able to show that to the world: that things aren’t perfect, they don’t have to be and it’s more beautiful when they aren’t. Even though it was difficult, it was important to make that appearance in the music video because people want people to look up to,” Perry explained.

She added they wanted to be an example of unity and stressed the importance of forgiveness saying that it’s so powerful. But she didn’t deny the fact that while it’s “amazing,” it’s also difficult to do at the same time.

In related news, when Swift shared a teaser for the music video of her single “The Man,” several netizens reacted because the venue was similar to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s house. Swift also has a rocky relationship with the couple.
