Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have officially put their feud behind them, and the "Dark Horse" singer recently opened up about how they buried the hatchet.

In an interview with Howard Stern, Perry dished on her rift with Swift, telling the host it was just overblown by the media. "Gossip in life can take the elevator but the truth takes the stairs. It just takes time," the soon-to-be mom explained.

Perry said she was thankful that she and Swift made up publicly and got the opportunity "to be an example of redemption for young girls." The pop star also gave an update regarding her current relationship with Swift, saying they now get along well with each other.

"Now, we’re super friendly. I always wanted the best for her and now we can talk about the best we want for each other," Perry said.

The two singers famously ended their long-running feud when Perry appeared in the music video for Swift's "You Need to Calm Down." While the two used to be friends in the past, their rift may have started around 2014 when the blonde artist said in an interview that her song "Bad Blood" is about another musician, Cosmopolitan noted.

In the interview, Swift alluded to a person whom she wasn’t sure if she was friends with or not but explained that this artist did something horrible that’s related to her career.

"She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me," Swift told Rolling Stone magazine in 2014.

At the time, fans speculated that Swift was referring to Perry, who then tweeted, "watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing" without dropping any names. After petty actions from both camps over the past years, things changed in 2018 when the "American Idol" judge sent an olive branch to Swift.

In June last year, Perry also posted a photo of cookies with the words, "Peace at last." The caption read, "Feels good @TaylorSwift."
