Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant's Odds Of Playing In Los Angeles Revealed
Betting odds for what team Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant will play their first games of the 2019/20 season for have been released.
Both players have been linked with other teams, mainly in Los Angeles, as they are expected to opt out of their player options and become unrestricted free agents at the end of the season.
Before Leonard was traded from the San Antonio Spurs to the Toronto Raptors earlier this summer, it was reported he wanted to play in his native Los Angeles, putting the Lakers or the Clippers as likely destinations.
And according to Bovada, the 27-year-old has +275 odds of playing for the Lakers next season along with -450 odds of playing for any other team. When it comes to the Clippers, Leonard has +285 odds of playing with them along with -470 odds of playing for another team.
Those odds are somewhat suprising considering while the Lakers were initially big favorites, it later came to light from reports that Leonard did not want to play alongside LeBron James anymore, with the Clippers being his new preference.
As for Durant, the Golden State Warriors star has also been linked with a move to the Lakers while the New York Knicks are potential suitors as well. The Clippers haven't been linked with him as much as the other two, but are also reportedly in hot pursuit of the 30-year-old, especially as they have the cap space for two max salary slots.
Interestingly, Bovada sees a move to L.A. for Durant being likelier than for Leonard, at least when it comes to the Lakers, as he has +155 odds of joining James along with -220 odds of playing for another team. As for the Clippers, Durant has +700 odds of playing for them with a massive -1600 odds of playing for another team.
In addition, odds from late last month from MyBookie have the Lakers as the +170 favorites to be Durant's next team while the Warriors are +200, the Knicks are +350 and the Clippers are +1000.
At least going by the odds, it seems likely that Durant will become a Laker next season. In September, it was reported by NBA insider Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson that he would be joining the Lakers in the summer while many others have speculated he will be going there as well, whether it's to be joined by Anthony Davis or simply for business ventures.
Leonard's odds of joining the Lakers are lower in comparison, which could stem from the success he's enjoyed in Toronto. The 2014 NBA Finals MVP has led the Raptors to to a 23-7 regular season record so far as they have led the Eastern Conference for the entirety of the season.
While it's possible he could still leave for another team in the summer, Leonard may pull a Paul George and re-sign with Toronto, especially if their success so far sees them reach the NBA Finals this season and potentially win their first championship.
