A 33-year-old woman in Texas has been missing for over a week and police have now found a body near her boyfriend's house.
Ocastor Ferguson was put behind bars last week on suspicion of kidnapping Kayla Kelley. The unidentified body of a woman was later discovered minutes away from Ferguson's residence, WFAA reported.
"Investigators with the Collin County Sheriff's Office and Texas Rangers located a deceased female in a Grand Prairie field. The located remains will be further examined by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office," the sheriff's department said in a news release Wednesday.
Officers said they will release additional information if there are any new developments.
Kelley was reported missing on Jan. 11 after her friends said they did not see her for several days. When police began the investigation, they found Kelley's vehicle in a burned-down condition in a deserted area. They determined that the "incident was not consistent with a natural fire," WFAA reported.
Ferguson was arrested on Jan. 14 after investigators found evidence that Kelley had planned to confront her boyfriend before she vanished, the arrest affidavit revealed.
Kelley had been dating Ferguson for around six months, but the latter was using a different name, Kevin. When Kelley recently learned about her boyfriend's real identity and that he was married, she reportedly threatened to expose him, NBC DFW reported citing the arrest affidavit.
After examining Ferguson's phone records, cops found out he was at work on Jan.10 and then left for his home in Grand Prairie. He then reportedly drove to Kelley's duplex and to the area where her burned car was located before returning home.
When cops questioned Ferguson, he denied knowing anything about Kelley's current location or what had happened to the vehicle. However, he admitted to driving the car and said Kelley was in the back seat.
The man's wife told investigators that she received a text from an unknown number on Jan. 4, saying they needed to tell her something. However, she reportedly could not contact the person as her phone had been broken since then.
Ferguson is currently held in the Collin County Jail on bonds of more than $1 million, reports said.
