Kehlani Cuts Her Hair Short Following Suicide Attempt, Ignores Kyrie Irving’s Statements

R&B singer Kehlani sported a new hairstyle Thursday, three days after she attempted suicide. While some blogs claimed Kehlani’s short hair is proof she’s spiraling out of control, others look at is as a new start for the Grammy-nominated singer.

The first hint Kehlani was getting rid of her locks came from the Twitter page “Kehlani Updates.” A photo of hair on the floor was posted to the page that said, “New beginnings.”

While the star is looking forward to better days, she’s still apparently recovering. She canceled an upcoming show, according to the Kehlani Updates Twitter page, which now has more than 25,000 followers.

“Sorry to inform you all, but Kehlani will no longer be performing at the 2nd annual Pan-Afrikan concert for @UAB_BSB,” the page revealed. “Please understand and forgive her during this difficult time. She sends her deepest apologies.”

Kehlani, 20, has deactivated and reactivated her Instagram account various times since her suicide attempt Monday. She hasn’t released an official statement about whether she will appear in the show.

She also hasn’t responded to Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, who finally issued a statement. Kehlani tried to take her life after she was accused of cheating on the NBA star with her ex-boyfriend, PartyNextDoor.

Irving said the situation was blown out of proportion and never should have gotten this much attention. He also threw shade at PND, whom he accused of orchestrating everything.

“Of this nonsense that could have been avoided, but me and Kehlani were not dating when the picture came out,” he said, in reference to the photo PartyNextDoor posted of him and Kehlani in bed. “It’s been hard to see what’s been going on and not address the truth. I do not justify the picture or what dude did to try and spark all.”

“It’s unfortunate that it’s received so much attention but it’s become bigger because of a post that was misunderstood,” he said. “Nothing but love and compassion over this way for her and her family. My only focus the game I love to play every night.”
