Kellen Winslow II went from promising NFL player to convicted sex offender. Here’s how much he earned during his time playing pro football.

Winslow was once a promising football star, having been drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2004 with the sixth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. He played four seasons for the Browns before moving on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played from 2009 to 2011. Winslow also played for the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, Associated Press reported.

Winslow made his biggest achievements starting 2007. The year saw him being selected to the Pro Bowl. But with a record of 469 receptions for 5,236 yards and 25 receiving touchdowns, he left the NFL in 2013 after suffering an injury in a motorcycle accident.

Winslow's 10-year NFL career saw him earning a total of $43 million, according to Spotrac. He is estimated to be currently worth $16 million, per Celebrity Net Worth.

On Wednesday, Winslow was sentenced to 14 years in prison by San Diego County Superior Court Judge Blaine Bowman for multiple rapes and other sexual offenses, USA Today reported. These cases involved five women, including a 77-year-old woman who became an audience to a lewd act performed by Winslow at a gym and a 58-year-old homeless woman from Encinitas, California, whom he raped in 2018.

The judge described the former NFL player as a sexual predator who goes after women who are vulnerable due to their age or their living situation.

The 14-year sentence is the maximum allowed under a plea deal, per Associated Press. He previously pleaded guilty to the 2003 rape of a 17-year-old when he was 19 and the sexual battery of a 54-year-old hitchhiker before the case was retried.

Winslow’s lawyers had claimed that he had sustained over 1,000 blows to his head during his football playing days and suffers from frontal lobe damage and symptoms associated with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), which is linked to football head trauma.
