Kelly Clarkson Always Thought She’s Asexual Before Meeting Husband Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson recently revealed that she’s never felt attracted to anyone sexually before she met her husband, Brandon Blackstock.

While at the launch of her newest album, “Meaning of Life,” Clarkson said that it was only Blackstock who made her feel “that” feeling inside. “This isn’t a downer to anybody I dated before him, but I’m just going to be real: I never felt like, honestly, sexually attracted to anybody before him. And I’m not downing my exes. You know, everybody’s different. But there was something about him,” she said.

Clarkson also told the crowd that she’s always thought she’s asexual. “I’d never been turned on like that in my whole life. I was like, ‘Oh that’s the feeling… okay! That’s what they were talking about in ‘Waiting for Exhale.’ I just got it. I didn’t have a clue,” she added.

The “American Idol” winner and Blackstock first met in 2006, at a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards. At that time, the “Piece By Piece” singer performed a duet with Rascal Flatts, and Blackstock served as the manager of the group, according to People.

Clarkson and Blackstock met at the right time because the singer just got out of a “crappy” relationship then. “Sometimes it sucks dating because it’s so many wrong ones until you get the right one,” she said. When Clarkson saw Blackstock walk past her, she immediately felt attracted towards him.

However, Blackstock was still married to another woman at that night, and Clarkson is not one to encourage cheating. “Honestly, I didn’t even talk to him,” she said. In 2012, Clarkson and Blackstock had the chance to meet again through her manager, Blackstock’s father, Narvel.

“We didn’t really know each other; I had just met him that one time. Just from that one time, even six years later, I had never really dated anyone. I honest to God thought, ‘Is this what it’s like to be asexual?’ I was just not attracted to people,” she revealed.

Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot in 2013 and have been blessed with two children together, River Rose, 3, and Remington Alexander, 1.
