Singer Kelly Clarkson, who was gearing up for an October wedding with fiancé Brandon Blackstock, has now scrapped the arrangements, and instead plans to elope.

This announcement comes just a few days after Clarkson, 31, who has not shied away from sharing her wedding plans with the media, tweeted a photograph from their engagement shoot. Soon, rumors started swirling around that Clarkson might be pregnant and this may have prompted her to call off a fancy wedding.

But, on Thursday, the singer took to her official Twitter account to quash the pregnancy rumors.

“FYI ....Brandon & I are getting married & no I am not pregnant. We are eloping for one reason only. We both want an intimate ceremony,” she wrote.

Clarkson told People that the couple’s busy schedule leaves them no time to plan a wedding, especially now that she has a Christmas record coming out. Clarkson also has tied up with State Farm, an insurance company, to educate teens about safe driving and has taken on the role of stepmom to Blackstock’s two children.

“We have two kids who just started school. We're going to all these football games and soccer games and volleyball games and [Brandon]'s got one of the biggest artists [Blake Shelton] in country music. He's flying everywhere," Clarkson told People, explaining why she and her 36-year-old talent manager beau, whom she has been dating since February 2012, are ditching a fancy wedding.

"We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, 'So, we change our minds and we want to elope.’ We just got so overwhelmed by it—the decisions," she added.
