Kelly Clarkson and Ron Paul 2012: Fans Support the Singer

It seems the act of supporting Ron Paul, in the run up to the 2012 U.S. presidential elections, has its own rewards. His loyal supporters are apparently prepared to go great lengths to ensure his success.

Recently, American Idol star Kelly Clarkson received hundreds of negative tweets from followers, after she tweeted of her support for Paul, on Wednesday.

The singer wrote: I liked him a lot during the last Republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican Party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't. This reportedly resulted in Clarkson getting hate tweets from her fans, stating she shouldn't have supported an anti-gay activist.

However, the Ron Paul brigade came to her aid and has begun buying her albums in large numbers, according to a CNN report. The pop singer's latest album Stronger moved to 7 from 38 on Amazon.com's sales list, in the space of a single day. Furthermore, album sales skyrocketed between Thursday and Friday.

According to the CNN report, the increase in sales cannot be attributed solely to her endorsements. In fact, buyer reviews on Amazon.com show her support of Paul earned her new fans. The Kelly Clarkson album review page is flooded with Ron Paul 2012 messages from his fans.
