KEY POINTS

  • Kelly Clarkson bought a new mansion in Los Angeles for $5.445 million
  • The singer is also selling her Encino farmhouse for $9 million
  • Clarkson is set to dominate NBC’s daytime TV programming next year

Kelly Clarkson’s first move after the confirmation that she’s headlining NBC’s daytime TV programming next year appears to be splurging on a new residence.

TMZ exclusively broke the news Wednesday that the singer-turned-talk show host dropped $5.445 million on a massive, Colonial-style mansion in the affluent Toluca Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The location of the estate seems to be strategic for Clarkson since it is just a few minutes away from Universal Studios Hollywood in the valley. It’s also worth noting that the property houses five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

The “American Idol” Season 1 winner’s new home covers 5,000 square feet of floor area, but it has an even bigger exterior space that measures about one acre. It comes with a swimming pool, a rotunda-style breakfast nook, a tennis court and a guesthouse.

It’s not clear if Clarkson is going to live in the property, however, as she owns several properties under her name. As an active member of the real estate business, she has listed a number of houses on the market — one of them she recently unloaded for $6.3 million.

The “Because Of You” hitmaker originally listed the Tennessee mega-mansion in 2017, but she failed to find a buyer for it when she was asking for $8.75 million. In 2019, she slashed her asking price to $7.5 million, but there were still no takers. Fortunately, she managed to secure a deal recently after lowering the price of the property once again, as per Los Angeles Times.

Clarkson is also currently trying to sell another property — her 10,000-square-foot Encino farmhouse — and she’s asking for $9 million. It should be noted that when she listed the estate last year, she was eager to sell it for $10 million.

Apart from her lucrative real estate business, Clarkson’s career in TV hosting is also thriving. In May, NBC announced that “The Kelly Clarkson Show” is going to headline its daytime TV programming once Ellen DeGeneres’ syndicated talk show wraps up its 19th and final season in spring 2022.

“We look forward to Ellen DeGeneres' 19th season paired with Kelly Clarkson for what is sure to be a blockbuster year. By 2022, ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ will be the star of our daytime entertainment schedules and an asset to our early afternoon newscasts,” President of NBCUniversal Local Valari Staab was quoted as saying in a statement by NBC New York.
