Positive Beverage decided to cut ties with Kelly Dodd due to her controversial comments and opinions.
The "Real Housewives of Orange Country" star is no longer part of the beverage company. Positive Beverage released a statement announcing that they are done with Dodd following her controversial comments and insensitive actions on social media about various issues like COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter.
"Our core values of wellness, community, diversity and inclusion should be reflected by our brand and anyone associated with it," Positive Beverage Head of Brand Zach Muchnick said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. "It has become clear over the past few months that Kelly’s controversial views and opinions have distracted from our primary objectives, so effective today, we are no longer affiliated with Kelly Dodd-Leventhal."
"We welcome all people -- however they are and whatever they are passionate about -- to Positive Beverage. But there must always be an underlying layer of respect. Unfortunately, we feel Kelly’s stance is no longer congruent with our core values. We appreciate her contributions during our affiliation, and she will always be a part of Positive Beverage’s history, but we do not align with her opinions or global views while we uphold our own values."
Initially, the "Real Housewives of Orange County" star said she was never fired and that the company just did not renew her. However, following the release of Positive Beverage’s statement, she took to Twitter and gave her fans an update about her next move while wishing the beverage company the best following their split.
"I’m glad I could help put Positive Beverage on the map and wish them well. I’m also really excited about my next venture in the beauty industry, which is my real passion. Stay tuned!" she tweeted.
In the past year, Dodd has made headlines for her controversial remarks, including her statement saying the COVID-19 pandemic was "God's way of thinning the herd." She was also criticized for wearing a cap that read "Drunk Wives Matter" during her bridal shower in October after sharing the photo on Instagram.
For her part, Dodd admitted she regretted saying the statement about COVID-19. She said she was freaking out and considered the move the "stupidest thing I've ever said," ET reported.
"Of course I regret saying that... At the time, it was a question, like, 'Why are all these people dying?... Why does a pandemic happen like this? Is it God's way of thinning the herd?'" she explained. "It was a stupid thing for me to say. It was insensitive. I apologize if I hurt anybody 'cause that wasn't really my intention.”
Meanwhile, she said the controversial hat was a gift from her friend and she had it for a couple of years already. She also stressed that she believes in equality and Black Lives Matter while expressing her regrets about the move saying, "In hindsight. I should've never done it."
