Kelly Osbourne is getting candid about relapsing after nearly four years of sobriety.

Osbourne, 36, revealed earlier this month on Instagram that she relapsed but assured fans that she quickly got "back on track." On Tuesday, she opened up about falling off the wagon during an interview with "Extra," revealing that a "nervous breakdown" had played a role in it.

"I don't know why my nervous breakdown happened at the end of the lockdown," Osbourne was quoted by E! News as saying. "I made it all the way through, everything was great and my life was perfect."

"I'm that girl that when everything is going great, I need to f--k it up a little and make everything a little bit worse in my life," she continued. "I am an addict and had thought that I had enough time under my belt, and I could drink like a normal person. And it turns out, I cannot, and I will never be normal. I don't know why I even tried it. It's not for me, and it took me a matter of days, and I was like, Done, not doing this."

Prior to posting her video announcement weeks ago, Osbourne admitted that she had second thoughts about whether or not she would open up to fans about her setback. But she decided, in the end, to go public with her relapse as she hoped to help others who are also struggling in their own sobriety journeys.

"This is something I am going to battle for the rest of my life," she explained. "It's never going to be easy. Through being accountable and owning your own journey and sharing what you can, though, you can help other people. That's why I came clean. I could have sat here, and nobody would know."

In the video posted to her Instagram Story on April 19, Osbourne told her followers, "This is a little hard for me to talk about, but I’ve always promised you that I will always be honest with you about where I’m at and what’s going on in my road to recovery,"

"I relapsed. Not proud of it. But I am back on track," she explained.

In October 2020, Osbourne said she wasn't dating anyone as she spoke about her 85-pound weight loss. But she's now in a relationship with actor boyfriend Erik Bragg, and she's very happy with him.

"And then I got happy 'cause I got this incredible boyfriend, and everything in my life is so great, and I'm like, I'm not an addict anymore," Osbourne told "Extra."
