The upcoming park documentary, The National Parks: America's Best Idea, is directed by Ken Burns and will be aired on September 27 by PBS.

The six episode, twelve-hour series was produced by Burns and his long-time colleague, Dayton Duncan, who also wrote the screenplay.

The documentary is filmed over the course of more than six years at some of nature's most spectacular locales - from Acadia to Yosemite, Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon, the Everglades of Florida to the Gates of the Arctic in Alaska.

The theme is about different people from all walks of life who dedicate to saving some precious portion of the land they loved.
