Kendall, Kylie Jenner Fire Back At Tupac Lawsuit, Call Allegation ‘Baseless’
Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s woes over their vintage t-shirts are not yet over, since Michael Miller, the commercial photographer who took the photo of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, is suing them for using his image without permission.
However, the Jenner sisters seem confident about their use of the photo since they obtained it from a company that had a valid license to sell them, according to the Associated Press. The siblings also released a statement through their fashion line, Kendall + Kylie, saying that the lawsuit has nothing to stand on. “The allegations made are completely false and the lawsuit is baseless,” the statement said. “There has been no infringement or violation of anyone’s rights.”

The uproar started after Kendall and Kylie released a number of vintage t-shirts featuring their images photoshopped on top of photos of musicians such as Shakur, Notorious B.I.G. and Ozzy Osbourne. Each shirt was being sold for $125. According to Global News, the vintage tees are described as “one of a kind, perfectly worn vintage tee shirts.”
Unfortunately for them, people lambasted their designs as disrespectful and tasteless. After the backlash, both sisters issued an apology through Twitter and decided to pull out the shirts from their online store. “These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologize to anyone that has been upset and/or offended, especially to the families of the artists,” their statement read. “We are huge fans of their music and it was not our intention to disrespect these cultural icons in anyway [sic]. The tee shirts have been pulled from retail and all images have been removed. We will use this as an opportunity to learn from these mistakes and again, we are very sorry.”
It seems like Kendall and Kylie Jenner are often being plagued by controversies and backlash. Kendall already came under fire this year after she starred in a controversial Pepsi ad showing her at a protest that peacefully ended after she gave a police officer a can of Pepsi.
People got upset because the commercial seemed to suggest that protests, particularly regarding the Black Lives Matter movement, could’ve ended peacefully if protesters were kinder to the police.
