Kentucky Double Homicide: Two People Found Shot To Death In Vehicle, Suspect Arrested
A man was arrested and charged for allegedly murdering two people in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, on Thursday (May 21) afternoon.
The man, identified as 27-year-old Taynandree Reed, was a suspect wanted in a double homicide that took place on May 13.
According to Chris Denham, a spokesperson from the Elizabethtown Police Department, Reed was identified as a suspect within 24 hours after the shooting. Police were on a lookout for Reed and his information was shared with several police agencies.
He was accused of fatally shooting two victims, identified as 32-year-old Shawn Fox and 37-year-old Michael Buckner Thomas, who were found dead inside of a vehicle. A woman also sustained injuries in the incident and was hospitalized, however, she was expected to make a full recovery.
Reed was arrested by the Versailles Police Department following a short pursuit on foot after he exited from a store Thursday. He was taken into custody on suspicion of assault, robbery, and homicide.
Investigators said the shooting happened at Ashley Pointe Apartments in the 600 block of Stewart Court. The surviving victim, whose identity was not revealed, managed to drive away from the area. She then pulled into a driveway on Patterson Street and raised an alarm, after which, the residents in the area contacted the authorities. According to the police, the accused also stole the woman’s purse from the vehicle.
Reed was being held in the Hardin County Detention Center. He was charged with two counts of murder, one count of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.
The relationship between the three victims and the assailant remained unknown at the time. The case was still under investigation.
In a similar incident, three people were injured in a shooting that took place in Arizona on May 20. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Armando Hernandez, was allegedly armed with an AR-15 style rifle and started firing at people indiscriminately. He was apprehended at one of the district’s parking lot after he stopped firing and was taken into custody.
In another incident, a man shot himself dead after killing one person and injuring two others at Northern Illinois. According to Rockford Police, the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Antonio Wilson, had opened fire at officers as they were attempting to evacuate the premises. He was later found dead with self-inflicted gunshot injuries after officers forced their way into the man’s room following a standoff that lasted nearly six hours.
