A Kentucky man has been arrested for allegedly leaving his disabled wife in his truck seat for five consecutive days where she was found covered in urine.
Michael T Redmon, 51, of Frankfort, was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree criminal abuse for the alleged extreme mistreatment he inflicted on his wife, reports LEX 18. The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, has cognitive issues.
The incident came to light Saturday morning after Redmon drove his wife to Franklin Regional Medical Center. The nursing staff who attended the 48-year-old woman found that she had stuck to the seat. The woman was also covered in urine and feces and had several sores on her body. Her skin had also deteriorated in some parts.
According to the criminal complaint, the hospital authorities immediately called Frankfort EMS for lift assistance to remove the victim out of the truck.
The victim then told the hospital authorities that Redmon was her primary caretaker. She said she asked Redmon to take her to Franklin Regional Medical Center on July 12. Though Redmon put her inside the truck, he left her there. Despite pleading for help multiple times, Redmon paid no attention, leaving her there for five consecutive days, the complaint read.
After days of suffering, Redmon finally transported his wife to the hospital on July 17, following which her plight came to light. However, there is no additional information available on the condition of the victim, who is currently at the Franklin Regional Medical Center.
Redmon is lodged in the Franklin County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
In a similar incident earlier the month, a disabled boy was rescued from his car in "horrific conditions." According to officers who did a welfare check, the boy with a severe mental disability was screaming for help inside a black Cadillac SUV. He was sweating profusely, and his face was red. Flies were crawling in and around his mouth, and the boy was making a whining sound. Police arrested his parents for child endangerment.
