Spider-Man Far From Home
"Spider-Man: Far From Home" is not coming to Disney+. Sony Pictures

While Spider-Man’s impact in the MCU was felt almost immediately, but his addition still came with plenty of questions. One of the most actively asked is “will Venom ever appear in the MCU also?”

Kevin Feige was asked that question point-blank during the press junket for “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” and was his usual coy self.

“I think probably it’s up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world,” Feige told CinemaBlend. “I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.”

What Feige is referring to is the 2018 film, “Venom,” starring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams. As had happened with many big films over the last few years, critics and audiences seemed split on anti-hero movie. Critics found aspects of the film enjoyable, but left with an overall sense of disappointment with a 32% on Rotten Tomatoes. On the flip side, fans responded very well to the movie, giving it an audience approval score of 81% that translated to over $850 million in the worldwide box office.

Sony had also teased how they hoped “Venom” would be the launching of their own cinematic universe of Spider-Man characters that didn’t have Spider-Man. This was due to the deal struck with Marvel Studios that resulted in Spidey’s appearances in the MCU.

But this sort of tease from Feige is par-for-the-course when it comes to the Marvel Studios head.

More recently, he had begun teasing more about the upcoming Black Widow film in production. He cited “Better Call Saul” in an interview when asked if the film could be a prequel, talking about how it tells a connected story that stands on its own.

Feige also talked about his efforts to bring in Keanu Reeves to the MCU for a film in the near future. And while Reeves has been rumored for Marvel’s upcoming film “The Eternals,” nothing has been confirmed at this point.
