Kevin Hart DUI Arrest Is No Laughing Matter: Comedian Arrested In Los Angeles For Driving Under The Influence
Comedian Kevin Hart was arrested on Sunday morning after speeding down a freeway.
Los Angeles police said in a statement that Hart, who stars in the new BET show “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” was driving 90 mph in his black Mercedes and almost ran into a gas tanker truck.
A female companion in the car was sent home in a cab.
On Sunday, Hart was held on a $5, 000 bond and booked for misdemeanor DUI. He was released Sunday afternoon.
“Mr. Hart had objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform the field sobriety tests," the police statement read.
"When the cop asked me to take the sobriety test I said 'WHY WASTE OUR TIME ... I'M DRUNK MAN,’” Hart later tweeted, before becoming more serious.
"This is a wake up call for me, I have to be smarter & last night I wasn't ... everything happens for a reason… "Drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid ... this!”
Hart began comedy tours in 2009 and his 2011 tour was documented in the film “Laugh at My Pain.” In 2012, Hart won Best Actor trophy at the BET Awards for his performance in the hit movie “Think Like A Man.” He is currently dating model Eniko Parrish.
